Renovo Contracting - Case Study

Renovo Contracting has a long history of expertise in concrete, brick and cast iron segmental structures for road, land, rail tunnels, including working for London Underground, Railtrack, Tyne and Tees Metro.

Renovo is an approved contractor of London Underground Limited and has worked directly and through the 'Extended Arm Contractors' regularly operating within LUL.

Varied operations have been carried in depots, stations and on track structures including concrete repair and coatings, maintenance shed floor renewals and waterproofing to station buildings, underground tunnels and track structures.

The Challenge

Renovo have historically run their operations from offices based in the Northwest of England due to many of their contracts and administrative staff being based around the area. However due to a large proportion of their contract work currently based around the London Underground, Renovo had a problem with communication amongst on site staff and office staff based in the Northwest.

The Solution

Many businesses are faced with the problem of providing an effective I.T. service for staff who are dispersed at sites in different parts of the country. An increasingly popular solution is to outsource the management of I.T. support to third party specialists. This was the path chosen by Renovo Contracting, which uses the it4group to service all of their key I.T. needs.

Aaron Belton from it4 takes up the story:
"The contract covers the provision of a fully managed I.T. support service- we effectively act as Renovo's I.T. department. The service we provide includes a helpdesk, field support for Renovo offices from our network of engineers, and remote management of the network and the workstations. At a low level, we purchase the I.T. kit for the agency, at a high level, we carry out all their systems integration and I.T. planning. We can also provide options with an in house employee, who spends their time at head office based in Blackburn, UK."
